Initially I was considering a
box shape for my paint pot, as I like the idea of using wood as it has a
natural pattern on in, which would make it stand out and link to the idea of
natural, nature and I think eco as well.
I decided to took into other shape
considerations to make sure my design is strong, below is some of my initial
sketches, thinking about the shape.
Before finalizing the shape of my paint pot
design I wanted to look into how wood can be manipulated and if this would be
possible. I found out the it would be possible but it would not be a practical
idea, as to bend wood into a tin shape it would take a long time and it would
need to be exposed to heart and moisture and be bent over time. The other
option would be to make the pot the way a barrel would be made, using strips of
wood to create the curve, I want to avoid this idea and it I think this would
have to many weak points. I want to use a simple design so I decided to further
explore design for a box.
