CAT Visit 2013 - Documenting

1. Photos documenting the trip
2. Comments and thoughts to the images

- An innovative use of materials

The below images show a wall which has been made from compacted mud, I wouldn't think that something like that would be possible, it makes me question what the boundaries are.

- An innovative use of water for transport

The cliff way rail way is powered by water, this feature currently unique to europe,

- CAT's on site shop (interior)

The interior of the shop was made to allow in as much light as possible to save electricity, as well as using green wood to cup the processing cost/energy. This caused problems as as the green wood dried it cracked causing further damage to the glass which then had to be replaced.

I think the cracks adds the to character of the building, it makes me think how can I bring out the character in the design of the packing that I am designing.

- Two of the most interesting displays/ exhibits

The first image I took as i thought it connected to the theme of designing a paint pot, this could be a secondary use for the paint pot- growing something in it, these could be painted to match the newly painted room to add as decoration or storage.

This next image I chose to use a it showed my that wind can can be used for different things where as I personal connected it to producing energy. This sign so that it can be used to pump water, could this be used by pots of paints in there production.

- Most curious thing you saw on site

This wall made out of old brick and bottles I found particularly interesting, it was held together with think wire, a alternative to the convectional cement which is used for walls, this I found unusual.
