Landfill - Other processes to decrease landfill

I was interested in the further plan, the diagram below shows where London is planning to be at in 2020.

I looked into the following team as I was not sure what they involved

Gasification  Pyrolysis -

Anaerobic Digestion -

A treatment process that uses natural bacteria to produce biogas and a residue known as digestate, from waste biodegradable materials, such as garden and food waste

Mechanical Biological -

Vehicles arrive and are checked and weighed before tipping the contents into a indoor sealed room. The waste passes through a Mechanical Processing, where recyclable materials such as metals, plastics and cardboard are sorted and separated. The remaining waste enters a Biological Processing stage, where it is composted inside the building. Water evaporates and biodegradable materials break down. Remaining materials are refined to extract recyclable materials such as rubble and glass. What is left after is can either sent to a landfill or used to generate energy.

These methods appear to use processes which enable more resources to be reused, this would reduce the amount of rubbish heading to a landfill which would be extremely beneficial.
